VOLUNTEER OPTOMETRIC SERVICE TO HUMANITY
We embarked on our first project in October 1992 when we hosted Dr. James Hess, and 12 other eye doctors and support personnel from VOSH/Minnesota Chapter, on a 10-day humanitarian eye care mission trip to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The VOSH volunteers travelled from Minnesota, USA, to provide free eye exams and donated prescription glasses at no charge to hundreds of patients who otherwise could not afford to pay for the cost of a spectacle. This project was held at 3 locations which provided easy for indigent persons from all over St. Vincent and the Grenadines to get tested and provided with a free pair of glasses. This project was a huge success and a great way to get MRA going!
“You have a beautiful country with wonderful kind people. Sandy and I will always remember our first VOSH trip” – Dr. Carl & Sandy Bloomquist – Minnesota, USA.
