About Us

Who we are:

The Medical Relief Association Inc. is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization.  We are located in the Eastern Caribbean island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.  We are dedicated to providing all types of health and medical care programmes to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to especially those who are less fortunate or disadvantaged.  Our services are provided free of charge and without regard to colour, race, creed or class.  We have no religious, political or any other affiliation, and no one in the organization is paid a salary.  Our organization has a good relationship with the St. Vincent Ministry of Health and other organizations – locally and abroad.

A seven member Executive Board runs the organization.

What we do:

  • Medical Volunteers – We recruit volunteer physicians, nurses, dentists and other personnel from other countries and bring them to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to provide charitable medical services.
  • Clinics/Community Health Outreaches – We conduct health screening events for the early detection and treatment of diseases.  We also run Dental, Optical, Medical, Chiropractic and other specific clinics.
  • Health Education – We provide on-going health education programmes while placing emphasis on the prevention of diseases.
  • Medical Supplies – We source medical and hospital supplies, medicines and medical equipment donations from abroad and given them to health care providers so that they can improve health care delivery in the institutions in S.V.G.

Brief History

Mr. Fidel Caesar, an individual in St. Vincent and the Grenadines with a passion for humanitarian work founded the Medical Relief Association in 1991.  Having worked with the St. Vincent Ministry of Health in an accounting and administrative role, and also as a Red Cross volunteer, Mr. Caesar gained first-hand knowledge of the health care system and its associated challenges, particularly the on-going shortage of medical personnel and medical supplies at health care facilities island-wide.  Mr. Caesar felt the need for a local organization that connects with foreign medical mission teams and donors of surplus medical resources, and that such an organization would help bring about improvements to St. Vincent’s health care system.  A number of persons were invited to attend a meeting and the idea captured their interest.  This subsequently led to the official formation of the Medical Relief Association and its full incorporation as a not-for-profit (Registration No. 95/1992), on October 21, 1992.

How is M.R.A. funded?
